This unusual combination comes from the palace of a local chief. A bronze sculpture, approximately 370 years old and presumably excavated, has been set into a wooden frame. As this process is subject to a certain degree of local appreciation and, from an antiquarian point of view, does not go back very far, the frame and thus the framing can be estimated to be around 50 years old.
The work has not been carried out very professionally, but the use of filler gives it a very distinctive appearance. The bronze depicts two warriors with shields. One with a ceremonial sword and one with a lance. Both figures are heavily weathered. |
